President's Message

Dear Members of the Alliance,

As we enter the second half of 2012, the Alliance Board continues to be enthusiastic and excited about the many program initiatives and member opportunities that are well underway. Heightened collaboration amongst our diverse, growing membership is a testament to our collective commitment to continue delivering excellence in quality healthcare education for all health professions.

We are engaged in a new chapter of innovative thinking, a revitalized sense of purpose, and strong management leadership. In July, the Alliance announced the appointment of Robin R. King, CAE, as Executive Director. Robin’s in-depth expertise in association management and knowledge of today’s healthcare systems make him ideally suited to lead the Alliance going forward.

Robin is a veteran public policy advocate with more than 20 years experience as a senior level executive directing complex national corporate and governmental organizations encompassing public issue communications, public-private partnerships, government relations, and brand strategy. Throughout his career, Robin has developed continuing education programs and led strategic policy efforts to forge relationships with key healthcare organizations, stakeholders, and decision makers.

Today, Alliance members are benefitting from several new initiatives, including:
  • The Leadership Program” kicked off at a 2 day workshop in July and will culminate in a series of presentations at the Annual Meeting in January.
  •  The enhanced Alliance Career Center is an online resource for members and recruiters to optimize professional development opportunities in the field of continuing education in health professions.
  • The “Focus On” Series features short, succinct position papers that address a variety of topics of critical importance to our healthcare education community.
More importantly, remember to mark your calendar to attend the Alliance’s 2013 Annual Meeting in San Francisco from January 30 to February 2, 2013. We encourage you to invite professional friends and colleagues to this important gathering of health profession educators. I encourage you to encourage your peers to renew their membership if they are current members and to join if they are not. I look forward to seeing you all in January!

Please join me in welcoming Robin to the Alliance. You will find him to be collaborative, motivating, and engaging.
Sincerely,

Damon K. Marquis, MA, MS, FACEHP
