President's Message
Dear Colleague,
Welcome to a New Year! The Alliance is embarking on an exciting new path to expand its membership to educators of all health professions and broaden its resolve to deliver innovative, forward-thinking educational programs and services. I encourage you to join in the adventure.
The Alliance’s 37th Annual Conference in January proved to be one of our most uplifting meetings. During those four days, many of you commented to Alliance leadership that this year’s conference offered in-depth information regarding ways we can continue to advance our respective roles as health care educators. The sessions generated lively debate and collegial exchange that resonated throughout the meeting rooms and halls of the convention center.
I encourage you to build upon that excitement in this new year. With the Alliance’s breadth of educational offerings and heightened levels of energy of its members, I urge you to reach out to your colleagues to encourage them to join the Alliance and become actively involved in our collective cause of quality health care education for improved patient outcomes.
Alliance members benefit from the organization’s many educational activities and so much more. Networking opportunities with other professionals at in-person meetings and programs and professional development resources are provided to enhance member expertise and offer career prospects. The Alliance website houses leading-edge content to keep members apprised on the latest insight into areas of competency, to offer skills and training tools through its Research & Development Resource Base (RDRB) and to gain access to our Career Center.
The Alliance is the “home” for health care educators of all health professions – a community devoted to helping each of us be the very best we can in delivering quality education programs. As a home, we can share in each other’s successes and best practices while enjoying the experience every step of the way.
Let’s share this journey of renewed enthusiasm and dedication to healthcare education with a sense of enjoyment and professional fulfillment. As I mentioned in my comments during the Business Meeting in January, remember to laugh along the way. As Mark Twain said, “Humor is the great thing… the minute it crops up, a sunny spirit takes place.”
Sincerely,
Damon K. Marquis, MA, MS, FACME
