Call for Nominations: Alliance Board of Directors

Nominations for Director are requested for Alliance members in good standing to serve on the Board of Directors of the Alliance for Continuing Education in the Health Professions (Alliance).  

The Alliance Nominating Committee is seeking to fill two (2) vacancies for Directors on the Board of Directors. Nominations can be received from peers, colleagues or self-nomination.  


  • Term: Shall be elected for three-year term and no more than two consecutive terms; 
  • Meetings: four meetings require Board member attendance (Select expenses covered pending Board approval of the 2018 Budget in November 2017);
  • Calls: monthly 60-minute conference calls require Board member attendance;
  • Fulfillment of the duties and obligations as written in the bylaws and  Director job description;
  • If elected, attendance at the Annual Conference, January 20 - 23, 2018 at the Grande Lakes in Orlando, FL is required for Board of Directors induction and orientation (Select expenses covered pending Board approval of the 2018 Budget in November 2017)

Selection Criteria

Selection criteria for candidates include (but are not limited to): demonstrated leadership and service to the field of continuing education in the health professions and the ability to work effectively in a Board setting.  

Candidates representing the inter-professional team particularly physicians, pharmacists, nurse practitioners and physician assistants as well as settings such as medical schools and medical education companies are encouraged to apply

Given the expertise of the current Board, the Nominating Committee is especially interested in receiving nominations from individuals with any of the following skills/expertise: 




Experience in helping individuals, teams, and/or organizations to function in a new, desired framework.


Experience in strategic thinking, launching and managing new ventures to establish value, sustainability and member expansion.

Health Policy


Evidence of the grasp and application of the evolving changes in healthcare policy and its impact on CEhp professionals.

Healthcare Quality

Experience and understanding of how data are gathered and used to improve the performance of the health care professional, teams and systems .


Experience with inter-professional education and recognizes the CEhp role in process improvement


Skills in education research, methods and tools to study how clinical teams learn and how that information can be used to develop continuing education to facilitate practice change.

*Position statement should include a minimum of two examples of personal experience relevant to the Direction position as well as expertise in each of the criteria listed (change management, entrepreneurship, health policy, healthcare quality, inter-professional, research).

Process of Election  

The Nominating Committee will recommend a slate of candidates to the Governance Committee who will present the recommended slate to the Board of Directors. Names, head-shot and position statements of candidates will be published and sent with the election ballot. Alliance members in good standing will be asked to vote for candidates electronically from October 23, 2017 through November 4, 2017.
