What is the Quality & Innovation Summit?
QIS is an immersive, action oriented learning and networking experience. It focuses on ways to apply learning and behavioral strategies as a critical part of successful practice transformation needed to improved patient care. The program location is a site that exemplifies best in class quality of care to improve patient outcomes.
Intermountain Healthcare is a Utah-based, not-for-profit system of 22 hospitals, 185 clinics, a Medical Group with about 1,500 employed physicians and advanced practitioners, a health plans group called SelectHealth, and other health services. A central focus of QIS is the power and measurable impact of education interventions – in any setting - that are designed and implemented as part of efforts to improve quality of care. You will learn about research and innovations in educational design, behavior change strategies, implementation science, evaluation methods, technology and much more!

QIS is more than just soaking in the information being presented – QIS is an opportunity to step out of your comfort zone and challenge yourself to put innovation into action with new partners and stakeholders. Ample opportunities to connect and learn from others will be provided with structured networking sessions; we encourage you as you plan your meeting that you expand your current learning networks by cultivating and exploring new partnerships as well as developing strategies for engaging stakeholders you can work with over the coming years.
Additionally, the sessions and activities you participate in at QIS will vary in format and allow you time to reflect, ideate and connect with others in ways most meaningful to you.
Upon completion of QIS 2017, attendees will be able to connect with others to translate ideas into impactful solutions that include:
- Innovation: Address at least one barrier to optimal care using innovations presented at QIS
- Research: Evaluate practical implications for at least one research project presented at QIS
- Quality Improvement: Identify collaborative partners, innovative solutions, or research approaches to address at least one quality gap for your stakeholders.
