Innovation in the Healthcare Safety Net

Track: Full Session

Session Number: 2035
Date: Tue, May 23rd, 2017
Time: 8:20 AM - 9:15 AM

Description:

High needs of patients warrant a system of care. There is a constellation of needs that exist with a number of actors that influence care decisions, and as such, healthcare stakeholders need to coordinate care in a better way. There are however systemic barriers to sustainability of innovation, and a challenge of using updated information to apply into practice. We as a healthcare education industry should challenge ourselves to eliminate the barriers to innovation and instead recognize that together, education can serve as a powerful tool to address complex challenges. Dr. Peter Long intends to provide us with an example of how Blue Shield of California Foundation are tackling these issues now for a better patient future.
