Overview | Curriculum

Program Start Date: October 20, 2017

Fundamentals 101 is an eight-week, self-paced multi-media program designed to meet the needs of novice CEhp practitioners from all organizational backgrounds.

The eight-week program includes:

  • Live in person kick-off meeting on October 20, 2017 (location details below)
  • Three (3) webinars with subject matter experts
  • Individual and group mentoring sessions 
  • Weekly homework assignments
  • Three (3) online CALLS courses 
  • Online community discussions 

Objectives

At the conclusion of the 8-week Fundamentals program, you should be able to:

  • Identify at least three new or modified practices to improve your CEhp program
  • Discuss the value of your role in CEhp
  • Explain the value of CEhp in today’s health care environment
  • Use the Alliance’s National Learning Competencies to create a professional development plan for 2018
  • Describe at least two best practices in CEhp educational design

Mentoring

Mentoring plays an important role in Fundamentals 101 activities. Faculty mentors are familiar with all of the course content and have been chosen based on their expertise in the subject matter.

Mentor assignments will complement the organizational backgrounds of the participants. Small mentoring groups will be formed based on these backgrounds. Mentors will connect with learners, both individually and as a group, during conference calls arranged at mutually convenient times.


Curriculum Overview

Week 1: In-person Kick-off meeting

At the conclusion of the kick-off meeting, you should be able to:

  • Describe key issues in the CEhp environment.
  • Discuss standards of practice and emerging trends in the CEhp environment.
  • Discuss the value of self-assessments in CEhp.
  • Complete a self-assessment based on one’s own knowledge and practice of CEhp
  • Outline steps in your personal learning plan for the Fundamentals 101 Course.

During the Live Learning Session, participants will engage in large and small group discussions on key topics in CEhp that are critical for early career professionals to understand. In addition, learners will engage in exercises to highlight the value of the Alliance’s National Learning Competencies related to systems thinking and leadership. Experienced CEhp professionals will be on hand for small group mentoring and Q&A sessions.

Week 2:

  • Work on initial steps in Learning Plan
  • Self-directed work on CALLS modules of their choice, based on self-assessment

Weeks 3 and 4:

  • Webinar on Interprofessional Education
  • Online discussion on Adult Learning and Educational Design
  • Self-directed review of your CEhp program for Interprofessional Education and Adult Learning Best Practices
  • On-going Mentoring

Weeks 5 and 6:

  • Webinar on Best Practices in Educational Design, Assessment and Evaluation
  • Online discussion on Educational Design, Assessment and Evaluation best practices
  • On-going Mentoring

Weeks 7 and 8:

  • Webinar on Accreditation and Regulatory Requirements
  • Online discussion on Accreditation and Regulatory Requirements
  • On-going Mentoring

During the eight-week program, learners will also engage in the following online learning modules:

  • Applying Adult Learning Principles in CPD
  • Crafting Objectives for Learning and Change
  • Core Principles in Assessment and Evaluation
