Can we offer credit for a series that starts tomorrow? YES WE CAN!

Track: Innovation

Session Number: 2009
Date: Wed, Sep 27th, 2017
Time: 9:00 AM - 9:45 AM

Description:

We've all heard it. Why does it take so long to set up an activity for continuing education credits? How fast can we do it?

Staff from the CME office at the University of Utah attended an ACCME workshop and heard Dr. Graham McMahon, President and CEO of ACCME, ask "why can't we do this in a day?" and we took that as a dare. We asked ourselves, "CAN we do this in a day"?

In our CME office, we're focused on making things as easy as possible for our educational partners and ourselves while being as efficient as possible. This seemed like a challenge that fit into our focus so we decided to find out what would happen if we took it on.

Of course, we wanted to stick to our typical process to be sure that we still met the criteria, provided the value our CME office provides, and not lose anything by rushing. What would the trade-offs be? We became so excited to try and set up a CE activity in one day, we took the next step, waited for our first opportunity and jumped on it!

Come to this stimulating session of case-based learning to find out what happened, to borrow our experiences and discover if this could be possible for you.
Session Type: Case Based Learning

Learning Objective 1: Translate our experience with streamlining our process to provide credit for an activity in one day into how it might apply to your planning process.
Learning Objective 2: Challenge yourself to approach planning in a "one size does not always fit all" process that might better meet the needs of your educational partners.
Learning Objective 3: Integrate focused action steps into your continuing education planning process for improved efficiency.
