There is a Fifth Dimension: Taking CME/CE Beyond Our Current Boundaries

Track: Innovation

Session Number: 2011
Date: Wed, Sep 27th, 2017
Time: 9:00 AM - 9:45 AM

Description:

This session will be presented as a short-film viewing session, followed by Q&A with the producers. The innovative, 24-minute feature film is produced as a new “Twilight Zone” episode, featuring CE industry leaders, Dr. John Ruggiero and Dr. Caroline Robinson. In this episode, John and Caroline mysteriously encounter a Magic 8 ball, that, rather than presenting answers to questions, challenges them to provide answers to why medical education matters. As they respond, John and Caroline find themselves in an increasingly perilous situation. As viewers see the dramatic progression of events in the short film, they, too, will be challenged with a sense of urgency to demonstrate the value of CME/CE in the wake of national calls for healthcare improvement. After the lights come up, following the film, the presenters will engage the audience in Q&A to address the primary questions in the film, namely, how to make medical education matter to decision makers outside of our own CME/CE community, as a key force in improving healthcare quality.
