Description:

The first in a series of three webinars covering QIE and SQUIRE, this webinar will offer participants an introduction to quality improvement (QI), its intersection with education, and the value of the SQUIRE tool in planning QIE. This webinar is intended for all ACEhp members and their healthcare QI colleagues.

Learning Objectives:

  1. Explain the relevance and importance of QI to the CE community. 
  2. Define who constitutes QI stakeholders. 
  3. Define what is the ACEhp SQUIRE tool and its value to the CE stakeholder community. 
  4. Describe how to properly use the ACEhp SQUIRE tool.
  5. Identify the tools and resources available with ACEhp SQUIRE launch.

Destry J. Sulkes, MD, MBA

Co-Founder, Medivo

Board President, Foundation for CEhp

Dr. Sulkes is a Co-founder of Medivo and has held executive positions in healthcare education & IT settings for over 15 years, including roles as Managing Director at Medsn, Inc., Managing Director at MedsiteCME, LLC, and Vice President of Medical Affairs and Strategy at Medscape. His research is published in leading peer-reviewed medical journals such as The American Journal of Medicine, The American Journal of Cardiology, Archives of Ophthalmology, & Retina.

Caroline Osborne Robinson, PhD

Senior Medical Education Manager

Genentech

Dr. Robinson, a medical sociologist, is a Senior Medical Education Manager, within Medical Education and Research Grants at Genentech. Previously, Dr. Robinson led the Center for the Advancement of Healthcare Quality through Education at Medscape, as well as served as Vice President of CE Outcomes. Dr. Robinson currently serves as the FCEhp Chair of the Quality Committee and is a member of the ACEhp Implementation Science/Quality Improvement Special Interest Group.

Jann Balmer, PhD, MSN

Director of Continuing Medical Education

University of Virginia School of Medicine

Dr. Balmer is the Director for Continuing Medical Education at the University of Virginia School of Medicine, where she initiates, designs, manages and oversees the development of education and performance improvement projects for physicians, and other healthcare professionals, to help them maintain competence, and optimum performance to the benefit of patients. She is a nationally recognized authority on CE and has numerous publications in the field. Dr. Balmer has participated in national medical research and collaborative projects, and has held leadership positions within the Alliance for CEhp, ANCC  and GAME. She holds a Bachelor of Science degree in nursing from the University of Pittsburgh, Master of Science in child health nursing from the State University of New York at Buffalo, and a Ph.D. in higher education administration from the University of Pittsburgh.
