Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI)

DEI Statement

The Alliance Board of Directors has approved the Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI) Policy this November. This step reflects our unwavering commitment to fostering a culture that values diversity, ensures equity and promotes inclusivity.

Introduction

The Alliance recognizes that diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) are essential principles that, when embodied/embraced/implemented/acted upon, enhance our ability to provide high-quality education and support the advancement and well-being of our continuing professional development (CPD) colleagues. We are committed to fostering an inclusive and equitable environment for all members. Our commitment extends beyond culture/ethnicity, gender identity, sexual orientation, disability, and age to encompass the richness of diversity present in professions and practice settings within the CPD community. Each profession and practice setting contributes to our shared knowledge and experiences. We aim to include, celebrate, and respect all dimensions of diversity within our healthcare CPD community.

Our Commitment

  1. Promoting Equitable Opportunities: We are committed to creating an inclusive and equitable healthcare CPD community where everyone has an equal opportunity to participate and thrive.
  2. Embrace Diversity in Professions and Practice Settings: We value, recognize, and celebrate the importance of diversity in all forms including professions, practice settings, culture/ethnicity, gender identity, sexual orientation, disability, and age. We believe that diversity brings unique perspectives, experiences, and talents that enrich our organization and the CPD community.
  3. Foster Inclusivity and Growth Across Experience Levels: We are committed to embracing the wealth of experience levels within the healthcare CPD community from early-career professionals to seasoned experts.

Actions to Promote DEI

To operationalize our DEI Commitment, we will take the following actions:

  1. Promote Inclusivity through Amplification: Actively seek to identify and amplify the voices and experiences of underrepresented groups within our community.
  2. Diverse Representation: Promote diversity in leadership, committees, and speakers to ensure representation from various professions and practice settings within the CPD community.
  3. Education and Training: Provide ongoing education and training to staff and our membership on diversity, equity, and inclusion topics.
  4. Evaluation: Continuously monitor our progress and adapt our strategies to meet the evolving needs of our diverse community.
  5. Bias Elimination: We will continually assess and revise our programs, policies, and practices to eliminate biases and barriers.
