The AIS Best in Class Outcomes Award recognizes outstanding continuing education (CE) initiatives that deliver measurable improvements in healthcare practice, patient or community outcomes and real-world impact.

This award highlights programs that exemplify excellence in outcomes-based education and effectively demonstrate the following:

  • Beneficial impact on clinical practice and adherence to evidence-based, guideline-concordant care.
  • Documented changes in healthcare provider behavior and/or improvements in patient or community health.
  • Generation of real-world evidence from education that is both replicable and sustainable.
  • Effective use of outcomes reporting by industry or other financial supporters to inform internal stakeholders and key decision makers.

Why Apply?

The top five applicants will be invited to present their programs on-site at the AIS Conference on September 14, 2026. Following these presentations, one program will be selected as the Best‑In‑Class Outcomes winner, gaining recognition and enhanced visibility among healthcare leaders, educators and industry stakeholders. Industry supporters are encouraged to submit applications that highlight effective strategies for demonstrating high‑impact outcomes to internal stakeholders.

Please Note: Final outcomes are not required to be selected for presentationInterim data analyses that reflect meaningful impact and progress will be considered and are encouraged for submission. Any quality/clinical improvement or real-world evidence must include analysis of available data.

Submission Requirements

Submissions will be evaluated based on:

  • Objective and Purpose: How effectively the program’s outcomes strategy addresses the identified educational or practice gaps.
  • Depth of Outcomes Assessment: Whether the level of outcomes measured is appropriate for the program’s goals and the complexity of the identified gap.
  • Assessment Methodology: Clarity, rigor and relevance of data collection and analysis. How clearly the data collection and analysis methods are defined and whether they are appropriate and rigorous.
  • Model for Excellence: The extent to which the program demonstrates meaningful impact and value to CE outcomes assessment.
  • Use of Outcomes: How the outcomes were used in practice, what lessons were learned, opportunities for improvement or future growth and how the results were communicated to key stakeholders (including industry supporters, if applicable).

How to Apply

Applicants should submit the following materials:

  • Program Overview (one to two pages): Provide a summary that includes the following:
    • The practice gap or educational need your program addressed.
    • The educational design, learning objectives and intended outcomes.
    • The outcomes study methodology and how it aligned with the identified gap or need.
    • A summary of the key outcomes findings.
  • Outcomes Analysis (one to two pages): Present your interpretation of the data and describe the clinical impact of the education.
    • If the program was commercially supported, explain how the outcomes were used by the supporter to demonstrate the value of independent medical education within their organization (if applicable).
    • Identify one to two critical success factors and at least one improvement you would make for future similar activities.
  • Award Justification (one page): Describe why this program’s outcomes should be recognized as Best-in-Class.
  • Optional Appendix: Include any additional outcomes data you believe are noteworthy. This could include pre/post comparisons, qualitative interview summaries or other key findings.
