Michelle Earl Position Statement

Meet the Candidate!

As a continuing education leader with over two decades of experience, I bring a practical, strategic, and deeply human-centered approach to advancing the mission of the Alliance — "To promote best practices in continuing professional development by empowering the community of health education professionals.” I’ve grown a community hospital’s CME program into a multi-hospital, interprofessional-focused learning system integrated with our academic and clinical service lines. I understand the operational realities of CE in a community and health system setting, managing competing priorities, navigating regulation, and delivering outcomes that matter. Along the way, I’ve supported colleagues across the country — helping them build strategy, solve problems, and stay grounded in their purpose.

I believe the future of accredited CE is moving toward deeper alignment with medical specialty and licensing boards across professions. This evolution presents both opportunity and responsibility for the Alliance to help CE professionals adapt, lead through uncertainty, and maintain the highest standards of integrity and independence while demonstrating measurable outcomes.

I support interprofessional collaboration; however, my approach is always contextual — focused on what best meets learner, patient, and system needs. I have always been passionate about the role of education in addressing social determinants of health, which continues to remain an underaddressed barrier to care. I believe CE can be a powerful tool to help clinicians recognize, understand, and respond to these realities in their day-to-day work. I also feel strongly that CE should be one of the primary tools in health system and organizational strategy. It should be not only thought of as a tool but most importantly as an integral component to achieving excellence.

My leadership style is grounded in ethics, trust, decisiveness, and strategic thinking. I bring calm to complexity, energy to execution, and a belief that good work — when done with clarity and purpose — drives real impact.

In addition to strategic vision and operational experience, I understand the fiduciary responsibilities of serving on a nonprofit board. I take seriously the duty to act in the best interest of the Alliance and its members — ensuring transparent governance, financial stewardship, and thoughtful policy development. I bring experience managing budgets, aligning educational strategy with organizational goals, and contributing to cross-functional leadership teams within complex health systems.

If elected, I will bring to the Board a voice grounded in experience, clarity, and execution. I will represent the perspectives of CE professionals across the healthcare continuum, especially those managing large portfolios with limited resources. I will advocate for meaningful member engagement and support, thoughtful guidance on the changes reshaping our field, and uphold the highest standards of accountability and collaborative governance.

It would be an honor to serve the Alliance and its members as we navigate what’s next, together.
